Cleanroom Testing and Certification Course

It is necessary when a cleanroom has just been built, and during its life, to test it to ensure that it's working correctly. The amount and quality of air supplied, the air movement between and within cleanrooms, and the particle and microbiological counts in the cleanroom should be shown to be correct at the beginning and throughout the lifespan of the cleanroom. The testing of a cleanroom requires skills. The VCCN Cleanroom Testing en Certification Course. Candidates can register for either of two levels of certification. These are Professional certification and Associate certification.

Professional certification
The Professional certification is for people whose profession is cleanroom testing, and routinely test all aspects of cleanroom testing. At the time of their exam they should have a minimum of 2 years experience. Applicants for the Professional certification will have to pass a written examination on Cleanroom Testing and a practical exam.

Associate certification
The Associate certification is for people who are either familiar with some aspects of cleanroom testing, and wish to gain knowledge about the subject, or have been working less than two years as a cleanroom tester, but wish to use the certification course as a basis of training and working towards professional status.

Applicants for the Professional certification will have to pass a written examination on Cleanroom Testing. The practical aspects will be taught, but no practical examination is expected. Students who have obtained the associate qualification may convert to a professional certificate once they have a minimum of two year experience, and are able to pass the practical exam.

Certification

The candidate will be required to competently write up reports on the results of the two tests. Professional candidates are expected to carry out the above tests competently, and accurately measure the airflow and find filter leaks. Professional exams will be marked in two parts i.e. practical and theoretical, so that it is possible to pass none, one, or both exams. It is necessary to pass both exams to be certified.

If the exam has been successfully completed, the student will be certified for a period of ten years for Associate and 5 years for Professional . In order to maintain validity and to guarantee quality, it is necessary to take the exam again after those years. Students will receive a VCCN / CTCB-I certificate, a personal badge after successful completion and will be included in the OCT-register of VCCN. It is anticipated that about 70% of the professional candidates will pass both exams in the first attempt. Anyone failing an exam can re-sit it at the next examination.

The VCCN Training Cleanroom Testing and Certification was set up under the auspices of the CTCB-I. This course is internationally certified through the International Confederation of Contamination Control Societies. The exams are taken by the CTCB-I (Cleanroom Testing and Certification Board). The CTCB has an examination appeals procedure.
